Wear Your Shirt for a chance to meet Bertie!
Burnley FC in the Community and Pendleside Hospice are asking local schools and businesses in the area to get behind Community Day 2018 early by taking part in Wear Your Shirt Day on Thursday 12th April!
The idea of Wear Your Shirt Day is a simple one; in exchange for donning a Burnley FC shirt (or any other football shirt) to school or work on April 12th, we’re asking those who take part to donate £1 in aid of Community Day. Every penny raised will be split 50/50 between Pendleside and BFC in the Community and will go to supporting the work of both local charities.
By signing your school or business up to take part in Wear Your Shirt Day, you will have a chance of a special visit from Burnley FC’s famous mascot, Bertie Bee. He’ll buzz by on the day to thank you for your fundraising efforts and collect your donations!
Community Day is an annual fundraising event and will be celebrated on Saturday 14th April at the Burnley FC v Leicester City FC fixture. For the second year running, Burnley FC in the Community and Pendleside Hospice are teaming up for the event which will see the matchday ‘taken over’ by both charities and themed around their work. All funds raised on the matchday and on Wear Your Shirt Day will help both charities to continue providing support for individuals in the local community who need it most.
For your chance to secure a visit from Bertie himself on Thursday 12th April, and to get your school or business involved in the fundraising fun, please register your interest for Wear Your Shirt Day by filling in the enquiry form below.
Please note that Bertie will be a busy bee on the day, so only organisations within a 5-mile radius of Turf Moor will be eligible to get a visit from Bertie. However, all local schools and businesses outside of the 5-mile radius are still encouraged to get involved!
Once registered, you can collect your bucket from UCFB reception in the Jimmy McIlroy Stand at Turf Moor between 10:00am – 4:30pm on Mondays to Fridays from the week commencing Monday 19th March.
If Bertie visits you on the day, he will collect your buckets. Otherwise, your donations will be collected during the week commencing Monday 16th April.
Pendleside Hospice provides for the individual needs of people with cancer or other life-limiting illnesses offering in-patient, day therapy, hospice at home services and support for families and carers across Burnley and Pendle. The hospice currently costs millions per year to run and relies heavily on fundraising within the local community.
