Burnley Colour Dash 2021


The BURNLEY COLOUR DASH is a 5km run, jog or walk (made up of 2 x 2.5km laps), which will take place in Towneley Park on Saturday 24th July 2021.

This event is great fun and en-route you will pass through various 'Colour Blast Stations' and be covered in different coloured paint! Before and after the Dash there will be various stalls for you to peruse and refreshments available to purchase.

We will be posting updates on the Facebook page 'Burnley Colour Dash’. If you haven't already done so please 'Like' the page.

Once you have registered you will be sent a sponsor pack, including event and collection t-shirt information via email. To ensure social distancing, participants will be able to choose from x3 waves 11:00, 11:30 and 12:00.

Adulst £15 / children £10- includes your Colour Dash t-shirt, a bag of paint to throw on the start line, medal and goody bag!




What is a Colour Dash? Our Colour Dash is the brightest fun run, jog or walk around! As you dash round the 5k course, you’ll pass through several COLOUR BLAST stations, where you’ll be showered with a cloud of colour. You will start off in your pristine white t-shirt and by the end of the event you'll look as though you've walked through a rainbow!

What is the powder made from? The coloured powder is a natural product. It is natural corn starch dyed with food and cosmetic grade colourings, and it is manufactured specifically for throwing at people! It is non-toxic, non-hazardous and biodegradable.

What do I get when I register? You will receive a fundraising pack which contains sponsor forms, poster, t-shirt voucher and event information. Your t-shirt can be picked up from Pendleside Hospice on either of the dates which are stated on your t-shirt voucher. On the day of the event you will be given a bag of powder paint and wristband so that you can claim your goody bag at the end. Finishers’ medals will be given to you as you cross the finish line. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Do I need to register my child as well? Colour dashing is safe for all ages and we welcome families to take part. All children under the age of 12 years who take part must be registered and cannot take part without a responsible adult who is also registered and taking part on the day. We also ask parents and guardians to consider their child before taking part, as the colour blast stations, although perfectly harmless, will be noisy, messy environments with powder clouds that may overwhelm some younger children. Parental consent will be required for each child taking part and will be requested at the time of check in. If a child is 13 to 15 years of age an adult must be present on the day however does not need to take part in the event. Only registered participants will receive goody bags etc. Adults are responsible for their own conduct and that of participants in their care.

Can I register on the day? You will be able to register on the day, however you will be asked to make a donation of £10 on top of the registration fee in lieu of sponsorship. We cannot guarantee there will be availability or your desired t shirt size.

Do I need to run the whole event?No, you do not need to run at all. We encourage people to join us to complete the course in whatever way they can, whether that be running, jogging, or walking. We just want people to enjoy the route and have fun doing it.

Is the event timed? The race isn't timed. You will not be given a chip or race number to wear nor will you be provided with a race time at the end. There won’t be a winner for the fastest person, it’s just about having fun and getting messy.

Is the course wheelchair and push chair friendly? The course is a mixture of terrains, including grass and tarmac some of which are uneven. The course is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs however some of it will be easier to push on than others. Also bear in mind that the coloured powder will cover the wheelchair and/or pushchair and we cannot take any responsibility for the cleaning of these.

Are pets allowed? Towneley Park does permit dogs, however we’re going to have to be firm on this one and say no to them taking part in the Colour Dash... unfortunately, animals and powdered paint do not mix. Add in a few hundred participants, loud music and the heat of the day (fingers crossed) and your pooch may be wishing he/she was somewhere else! Please leave your pets at home.

Are spectators welcome? Anybody is welcome to the charity village to take in the atmosphere and enjoy the festival before and after the Colour Dash which will be on until 3pm.

Do I need to bring money on the day? On the day there will be various stalls and activities which you may need money for. Lots of Colour Dash merchandise will be available to purchase to enhance your Colour Dash experience.

What time will the event start? The pre-party with face painting, dancing and live music will start at 10.30am. The actual 5k Colour Dash will start at 12 noon after a warm up and safety brief and then you’re welcome to hang around for the after party which will be on until 3pm.

What should I wear? All participants will receive a white t-shirt to wear on the day so that the multi coloured powder will show its full effect. Wear comfortable trainers for running/walking in, but please remember that these will get covered in colour too, so wear something you’re happy to get messed up.

Can I dress up? Yes! We'd love to see you dress up (Though you’ll still need to display your wristband which you will receive when you ‘check in’).

What if it rains? A little rain won’t stop us, it just gets messier so be prepared!

Will the powder get in my eyes or will I swallow it? The coloured powder is non-toxic and non-hazardous so will not cause injury to you if it gets in your eyes or you swallow it. Some colour dashers wear sunglasses to protect their eyes. Colour dash merchandise will be available to buy on the day and at t-shirt collection.

Will the paint harm the environment? No, not in the slightest! It is completely non-hazardous and biodegradable. Most of the powder will brush away. The rest will be gone the first time it rains.

Will the paint harm my car on the drive home? We recommend bringing an old towel or cover for your seats to prevent any of the colour powder transferring to your car upholstery on the way home. We do not accept any responsibility for cars.

Will there be changing rooms? Unfortunately we are unable to provide changing facilities.

When can I expect to receive my pack? We will be sending everyone a fundraising pack within 4 weeks of them registering. In this will be sponsor forms, posters and instructions about the day. There will also be your t-shirt vouchers... You will receive your medal and goody bag when you finish the 5K route. Only registered runners who have checked in and received their wristband will receive a goody bag.

Can I fundraise for other charities? The event is being organised directly by us at Pendleside Hospice. We have spent a significant amount of time, expenses and resources organising it. We need to maximise on the funds made for the time put in so would respectfully request that any fundraising done is in aid of Pendleside Hospice. When you register you will be sent a fundraising pack.

How do I return my sponsorship money? Returning your money to us couldn’t be easier: In person: Call into the hospice to drop off your donation.   1. The registration fee is applicable to everyone wishing to take part and is non-refundable.
  2. Anyone aged 15 years or younger on the day of the event must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 years or over) who is also registered to take part in the event on the day. Anyone registered who is aged 16 or 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 years or over) on the day of the event, however the accompanying adult does not need to be registered/take part in the event.
  3. Adults are responsible for their own conduct and that of participants in their care.
  4. Multiple and group registrations will be accepted provided that full information (including their own personal home address and telephone number) and registration fee is provided for all walkers.
  5. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and anyone you are taking responsibility for is fit and well enough to take part on the day.
  6. Those unsure of their physical ability to take part should seek medical advice before committing to it.
  7. Adult participants are responsible for their own safety and security whilst taking part in the event and for those participants in their care.
  8. Pendleside Hospice does not accept any responsibility or liability for any injury or loss that participants may experience whilst taking part in this event. 
  9. All participants must keep to the designated marshalled/sign posted route.No pets are permitted to take part in the event.
  10. By signing up to take part you are agreeing that photographs and video taken at the event may be used for Pendleside Hospice and/or organiser’s publicity purposes in printed, social and broadcast media.
  11. Pendleside Hospice accept no responsibility for any damage to clothing or upholstery.
