Pendleside Hospice is appealing to Burnley and Pendle businesses, clubs and community groups to help them create a winter wonderland of decorated Christmas trees.
The grounds at the hospice in Colne Road, Reedley, will be filled with Christmas trees and by making a donation of £100, each group will be invited to add some festive magic to their own designated tree.
Each tree will come with a sign for companies and groups to show their support for Pendleside Hospice during the festive period.
Lisa Pearson, head of Income Generation at the hospice, said: “We’re encouraging groups to use their imagination – anything goes when it comes to decorating the trees!
“Businesses can use brand colours or even make their own branded decorations, plus battery or solar-powered lights can be added for that magical touch.”
The trees will remain in the grounds until Sunday 6th January before being shredded to provide mulch for the hospice gardens.
Lisa continued: “We're looking forward to Christmas at the hospice and we want to make our grounds as magical as the inside of the building.
“We're hoping to create a winter wonderland for patients and relatives to enjoy, with the added bonus that the shredded trees will help maintain our beautiful gardens – which provide a much-needed sanctuary for our patients and their families – in the new year.”
The outdoor trees are being provided by Dave Rogers, who also supplies the hospice’s main Christmas tree each year from his Burnley base in Red Lees Road.
Dave said: “Working with the hospice is a pleasure. When I heard about the idea to create a winter wonderland in the grounds using Christmas trees, I jumped at the chance to help.
“Each group can customise their tree how they like and adding battery or solar-powered lights will really bring the whole concept to life for the most wonderful time of the year.”
