Pendleside Hospice is inviting families and the local community to Towneley Park, Burnley, on Saturday 10th October 2026 for its brand-new Starlight Walk.
Launching for the first time this year, the Starlight Walk will bring the community together for an evening of fun while giving people a special opportunity to remember their loved ones.
With a choice of a 3km or 8km fully marshalled circular walk, the event has been designed for everyone to enjoy. Families, friends and colleagues are encouraged to come together, put on their brightest and most colourful outfits and walk side by side in memory of someone special.
And this isn’t your usual sponsored walk. Participants are encouraged to get involved with the fun and dress up for the occasion, with glowsticks, light-up glasses, tutus and plenty of other colourful accessories to help make the walk a little more special.
The event will start from 4.30pm, with both walks setting off at 7pm. There will be lots happening throughout the evening, including live music and entertainment, food and refreshments, craft stalls, children’s activities, face painting and LJS Funfairs.
Everyone taking part will also receive an exclusive Starlight Walk T-shirt, which can be personalised with the name of someone special on the back. This gives people the chance to bring the name of their loved one with them and take part in the walk in their memory.

Sammi Graham, Head of Events at Pendleside Hospice, said:“We’re really excited to be adding the Starlight Walk to our events calendar for the first time this year. We wanted to create something that the whole family could enjoy and that would bring our local community together.
“We know that so many people have their own reason for supporting Pendleside, and for many, that will be remembering someone they have lost. We hope the Starlight Walk gives people the chance to come together with their families and friends, remember their loved ones and enjoy an evening together."
The money raised through the Starlight Walk will help Pendleside continue providing care and support to local people and their families when they need it most.
During the financial year 2026/27, Pendleside Hospice expects its total running costs to be around £6.8 million, with NHS funding covering just 20% of these costs. This means the Pendleside Hospice needs to raise around £5.4 million from other sources to help cover the cost of running its services.
Fundraising events are an important part of reaching this target, with every pound raised helping Pendleside continue to provide its care and support across the local community.
While signing up is a great first step, it’s the sponsorship raised by our walkers that truly makes the biggest difference. Most of our fundraising income comes from people gathering support from friends and family, those donations play a huge part in helping us reach the funds we need each year.
With children aged five and under able to take part for free and dogs welcome on the walk, the Starlight Walk is open to the whole family.
Pendleside is now encouraging people to get their families and friends together, choose their route and sign up for the first Starlight Walk.
