The Burnley Way

Daniel Tempest and Kevin Smith The Burnley WayDaniel Tempest and his cousin Kevin Smith came to Pendleside Hospice for a cheque presentation after raising an incredible £4,621.13 for Pendleside. They raised the money through sponsorship and completed The Burnley Way, a gruelling 40 mile walk over various terrains. Daniel decided he wanted to fundraise for the hospice following the care his grandma received whilst at Pendleside. His cousin, Kevin knew that he wanted to fundraise for the hospice too so volunteered to join his cousin in this huge challenge along with his dog Silvio. A couple of friends joined them on the day, David Harris who also completed the full 40 miles and Jonathan Kearney who completed 20 milesThe walk took place on Friday 2nd April and was completed in 14 hours 10 minutes which is an amazing achievement. Daniel said: ‘My original aim was to complete The Burnley Way in under 16 hrs, and we actually completed the walk, which was 40.6 miles and up and down 6,000ft, in 14 hrs & 10 minutes which we were really happy with’. Thank you so much to Daniel and Kevin and everyone who has supported them and donated.
