Pendleside celebrates Eid with a special Asian food luncheon

The role of Pendleside Hospice and how it functions were described to guests at a special Eid celebration luncheon in the hospice grounds.

Members from across the Burnley and Pendle community were welcomed by the hospice’s chief executive Helen McVey and representatives from across all areas of the hospice.

Helen said: “One reason for holding the luncheon was to thank the community for its support and help promote the work of the hospice in order to widen access to its services.”

Guests included Councillor Afrasiab Anwar, leader of Burnley Borough Council; Dr Raisa Malik, chair of Pendle Women’s Forum; Bev Martin, a councillor at the Lancashire Women’s Centre; and representatives from the Prince’s Trust.

The event was organised by, Pendleside community engagement officer Leah Hooper and  receptionist Saniya Janjua.

An Asian buffet was donated by Samosa Chaat, Mansha Sweet Centre, Cake ‘n Crumble, Ferri’s Asian Treats some local residents in Reedley.
