Paw-some day out for Pendleside

A novelty dog show set to get tails wagging is coming to Burnley on Sunday 28th July with the aim of raising money for Pendleside Hospice.

It's the brainchild of Vicky Fort, Senior Commercial Consultant at Colne-based recruitment film Tailor Made Sourcing, who’s looking after the company’s fundraising for the hospice as part of the Corporate Challenge.

It’s the second year Tailor Made has taken part in the Challenge and now Vicky’s heading up the fundraising mission, she wanted to turn the company’s passion for all things canine into a summer event.

She said: “I have two working border collies at home, Meg and Lady, who are a mother-daughter duo. We also regularly have our MD Ben Rhodes’ French bulldog Buddy in the office, so as a workforce, it’s safe to say we’re very passionate about our pups!

“When I started thinking about fundraising events for Pendleside Hospice, a fun dog show was a no-brainer – we’re very excited to see how it goes as it’s the first time we’ve done anything like this.

“We have 100 goody bags for the first 100 people through the gates and so much for all the family to enjoy on the day.”

The dog show is being held at Turf Moor outside the James Hargreaves suite on Sunday 28th July, 10.30am until 3pm. Entry is £2 per adult and £1 per child, with dogs getting in for free.

The highlight of the day looks set to be the 12 dog classes for contestants to try their paw at – with categories including Waggiest Tail and Best Paw Shaker – plus there will be a number of stalls selling goodies for dogs and humans.

Vicky continued: “We’re keeping everything crossed that the weather behaves itself and that we can all have a great summer’s day while raising vital funds for Pendleside Hospice. As a team we’re committed to the fundraising cause and hope we can give our total a big boost with this event.”

Christina Cope, Head of Corporate at Pendleside Hospice, said: “I think this is a first for the Corporate Challenge – it’s a brilliant idea! I know it’s an event that so many people will want to come along to with their dogs and we’re looking forward to seeing how the Tailor Made team get on.”
