Brian sucessully completed the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 3rd April and raised a superb £1,090.00 for Pendleside Hospice. Brian kindly agreed to share his experience of the day with us.

Brian said;

'The Manchester Marathon was a great day and allowed me to fulfill a lifetime goal of completing the 26.2 Mile challenge. A tick off the list, never to be repeated.

The race went pretty much as I had trained for, I managed to keep within the 8:46/Mile pace until mile 18. At mile 18 I hit 'The Wall', my legs tightened up and a mental argument started with myself. People were stopping all around me from that point.

The thought of letting people down who had sponsored and supported me along the journey, family, friends, running buddies, even strangers who had offered encouragement when they had found out I was competing in a Marathon.

All this kept me going.

The words of a friend who had, the night before said 'There were times when I was running that my head went down and I had to think DIG DEEP and keep going'. This helped me complete this challenge.

The support along the route from the people of Manchester, Sale and Altrincham, who had come out of their houses to encourage us and had set up tables with water and sweets for all the runners, was fantastic.

All in All it was a great weekend with the added benefit that it is over. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to challenge'.

Thank you to Brian Dallas and all of our fantastic runners; Anna Reddy, Scott Taylor, Ian, Liv and Freya Bythell who ran the 2022 Manchester Marathon for Pendleside Hospice. You're all AMAZING!
