Race Across Pendle

Pendleside Hospice is inviting teams of two to take part in Race Across Pendle, an adventure challenge inspired by the TV show Race Across the World.

Teams will race across Burnley and Pendle, travelling between checkpoints, solving clues, completing challenges and navigating their way to the finish line with no internet, no social media, a very limited budget and only basic navigation tools. The challenge focuses on teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, physical endurance and adaptability.

When?

📅Starting at 6am on Friday 9th July, with the challenge finishing by Saturday evening, 10th July 2027.

Who Can Enter?

  • Teams of 2 participants

  • Open to anyone aged 18+

  • Participants should have a moderate level of fitness

Application Details

Applications require:

  • Completion of an online application form

  • Answers that demonstrate personality, teamwork and motivation

Application deadline:
⏰ 5pm Friday 29th January 2027

Successful applicants will be contacted:
📅 Week commencing 8th February 2027

(Maximum of 12 teams)

Fundraising Requirement

Each team is asked to:

  • Pay a £100 registration fee

  • Raise a minimum of £2,000 sponsorship

Funds support Pendleside Hospice in providing vital care for the local community.

What Successful Teams Receive:

Race Format

  • Teams start early Friday morning

  • Travel between checkpoints using navigation skills

  • Complete challenges and solve clues

  • Overnight stop included

  • Continue racing Saturday

  • Finish expected late Saturday afternoon

Rules will include:

  • No smartphones

  • No internet access

  • Only the provided budget may be used

  • Teams must follow event instructions

Emergency Support

Support will be provided throughout the event:

  • Checkpoint monitoring

  • Volunteer support

  • Emergency contact phone provided

  • Additional guidance and support from official marshals, who are fully first aid trained
