The Virgin Money London Marathon is a truly inspiring event, with tens of thousands of people taking part every year and hundreds of thousands entering the ballot!
Running for Pendleside Hospice will help support your family, friends and neighbours in Burnley and Pendle diagnosed with illnesses such as Cancer, Heart Disease and Dementia, their family and carers.
Pendleside Hospice has 8 Golden Bond places in the 2022 marathon, for which we ask people to fill in an application form. We then make our team selection in October, this is generally after the ballot results have been published.
We ask each of our Golden Bond runners to raise a minimum of £2,000 (not including Gift Aid) and offer lots of support to enable you to achieve your goal, so don’t worry! All runners are given a fundraising pack containing sponsor forms, posters and a personalised running vest and we can also provide, if requested, raffle tickets, prizes, buckets, posters etc for any fundraising events you might wish to organise to raise sponsorship.
Runners in previous years' have held quiz nights, curry nights, coffee mornings/bake sales, raffles/auctions and Race Nights to name just a few! Another great idea is to sell 'Memory Miles'. This is where you have individuals give you a donation (set a minimum amount e.g. £20) to have their loved one's name printed on the back of the running vest you wear on the day, next to the mile they choose. You have 26 miles to sell (maybe even sell the 0.2!) raising over £500!
The application closing date is Monday 11th October and all applicants will be contacted within the week to find out if they have been successful or not in getting a place. If you are successful in gaining a place on #teampendleside there will be a £50 registration fee to pay to confirm your place- this is non-refundable. Please note, this is only if you are chosen to be on the team, there is no cost to submit an application form.
If you are successful in gaining your own place but would still like to support the Hospice by raising money for Pendleside we can provide you with fundraising support.
Contact Sammi in the Fundraising Team on 01282 440128 or [email protected] to find out more and/or to get an application form.
Thank you and good luck!
