Christine Walmsley from Clitheroe has raised £748 in aid of Pendleside Hospice by completing the Pure Challenge Forest of Bowland 100K circular walk starting from Slaidburn at 08.00 on 18th March.
The 100K Bowland challenge is to complete the route within 24 hours but the event was officially cancelled part way through due to the horrendously bad weather which swept across the UK that weekend. Christine, wasn’t going to be defeated though and completed the walk on the following Tuesday.
Christine said "The weather was awful! People were falling waist deep in peat bogs and were soaked wet through. It was the right decision to cancel the event but I definitely wanted to complete it so I went back a few days later in nicer weather. My Auntie used Pendleside’s services a few years ago so I know how fantastic the care they give is".
