Services

Day Therapy Service
Our aim is to provide patients with symptom control, rehabilitation, nursing care and peer support. There is also the opportunity to enjoy trips out and afternoon activities. Lunch and refreshments are provided and transport can be provided on request.

Inpatient Care
There are 10 individual bedrooms. Patients are admitted for assessment symptom control, end of life care, rehabilitation and crisis respite.  Each room is fitted with electrically operated furniture and an en-suite bathroom to enable patients to retain as much independence as possible. All rooms are equipped with a TV/DVD player and have access to a selection of Sky channels.  The beautiful hospice gardens can be viewed from every  room.

Hospice at Home
This is an extension of the care provided by Pendleside to complement the District Nursing service.  Qualified nurses and auxiliary staff provide nursing care, emotional support and respite care day or night. Care can also be extended so that patients can be provided with 24 hour round the clock care at times of crisis and for patients who chose to stay at home for end of life care.

Complementary Therapy Service
Appointments may be made for complementary therapies (massage, aromatherapy and reflexology). Therapies are available in all departments of the Hospice, for outpatients and also for carers who are supporting patients.

Outpatients & Information Resource Clinic
Provides support for patients, their families and carers.  A representative from the Citizens Advice Bureau is also available to offer support on financial matters, housing, employment and other issues.
The drop in service runs every Wednesday afternoon from midday to 3.30pm.

Equipment Loan
The Hospice is able to loan a limited range of equipment to patients on a short term basis until it becomes available from the proper sources.  For more information contact the Hospice at Home Team.

Family Support Service
Our qualified counsellors provide support to carers of people with a life-limiting illness on a one to one basis either in their own home or at the Hospice.  Support is also available for the children of patients diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.

Bereavement Support
We recognise that in the weeks proceeding bereavement carers have invested a lot of physical and emotional energy caring for their loved ones.  This Bereavement Support service is available in the carer’s home or at the hospice.   Ongoing support is also offered at group meetings where people can talk to others who have been bereaved as well as to hospice staff.   Bereavement counselling for children and young people is also available.
