More than 2050 ladies took part in the second Hospice Midnight Walk this Saturday. The ladies begin the 8-mile walk from Burnley Football Club and made their way over Marsden Cross to Wavelengths in Nelson and then through Nelson centre and along the main road all the way back to the football club.
Before the start of the walk they were entertained by presenters from local radio station 2BR as well as renowned Robbie Williams Tribute Act, Lee Pashley. A minutes silence was a time to remember those the ladies were walking in memory of. At the end of the walk all the ladies received a well deserve
Last year’s Midnight Walk was the first of its kind locally and saw almost 2000 ladies taking part, raising the fantastic amount of £230,000 for Pendleside Hospice.

There were people coming out of their houses clapping and cheering them on as they went past, which was really nice, and the ladies were spurred on by that.
The quickest competitor completed the 8 miles in just over two hours and the last walker came in under 4 hours.
The event was being supported by more than 200 volunteers who worked through the night by either helping at Burnley Football Club or marshalling the route. The event was sponsored by Charter Walk Shopping Centre, whose support means that all the money raised in sponsorship will go directly towards patient care.
The money raised from events such as the Midnight Walk are vital in ensuring the hospice can continue to provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
