Light up a Life

Light Up A Life is an opportunity to remember loved ones no longer with us.  People make a donation to dedicate a light to the memory of their loved one.  The lights are all displayed around the outside of the hospice building and are first lit during a service that takes place the weekend before Christmas.  The lights then shine out vibrantly through the dark winter nights until the New Year.  When the lights come down the names of everyone remembered are entered into a leather-bound Book of Remembrance, which is kept on display in the hospice reception throughout the year.

Hospice Fundraising Manager,  Kaye Bartle said “Light Up A Life is a very special event in our hospice calendar.  Many people take comfort from being able to do something positive to remember their loved ones at Christmas time "

Donations towards Light Up A Life from people remembering loved ones totalled £103,250 representing an increase of almost £6,500 from last year’s figure.

Light up a Life forms will be sent out to hospice supporters with their winter edition of the Pendleside News.
