Life for a Life
Plant a tree today to commemorate your loved one. These trees develop into beautiful forests which are enjoyed every day of the year by everyone who visits them.
Trees may also be planted for many other occasions: silver wedding anniversaries, renewal of wedding vows, births etc.
This is a unique way of remembering a loved one who has died and providing some material benefit for the hospice. The scheme is called ‘Life for a Life’ and is a Memorial Forest Scheme.
The grand total of £10,100 was raised from the Life for a Life Memorial Forest in the past five years in aid of Pendleside Hospice.
As its name suggests the method involves planting a tree in memory of the person you wish to remember and £100 is donated to local Hospice, Pendleside. Forests that have been dedicated to particular boroughs have been identified throughout the region. We are fortunate to have two sites, one at Crown Point for Burnley residents and the other at Wycoller Country Park, Colne for those who live in Pendle.
A certificate is issued for each individual tree planted indicating the date of planting, the species of tree and the family name. The name of your loved one is also entered in to a Book of Remembrance, held at Pendleside Reception. There are two types of commemorative plagues tto avail of, the standard plague is included in the initial donation or a distinctive plague is obtainable for an additional fee. The option of interring the ashes of a loved one at the time of planting the tree is also an option.
‘Life for a Life’ makes a financial contribution to the Hospice for each tree planted, making the process beneficial to the family, the environment and to Pendleside.
Should the scheme be of interest to you, please contact ‘Life for a Life’ direct at the number given.
Life for a Life will automatically liase with the hospice if you decide to proceed.
