Our In-patient unit has 10 single rooms, each with en-suite facilities.
All rooms have en-suite (toilet & washbasin) T.V., DVD, radio and telephone and views into the well maintained gardens. A bird table is positioned within view from every room.
Our aim is to promote quality of life for each individual, their families and carers by providing skilled palliative care using a holistic approach to encompass physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Care is given, free of charge, by suitably qualified nurses and trained volunteers.
Patients are admitted under the care of the hospice Medical Director Dr. Caroline Palmer.
Patients can be admitted for assessment and symptom control, rehabilitation, and for care at the end of life.
Unfortunately, Pendleside is unable to provide long term care. If a patient’s condition is stable yet they are unable to return home, alternative arrangements can be made for their on-going care. However, if they have reached the final stages of their life, they may choose to stay in the hospice for care and support.

Generally visiting hours are between 2pm and 8pm daily. It is important that patients are not overwhelmed by visitors and have an opportunity to rest. Children and pets are welcome but must be supervised. Visiting times may be relaxed in special circumstances, please discuss this with a member of nursing staff.
Friends and family are welcome to help with care of patients and become part of the team. Many have been looking after their loved ones at home and we do not want them to feel excluded. However, if they wish they can let staff do the caring and they can concentrate on the loving.
