CELEBRATE WITH A DIFFERENCE One year older and another year passed, are you fed up with the same old birthdays, receiving the same presents each year? Maybe you’re getting married but have more than enough vases and toasters already. Pendleside Hospice can help with their Celebration Giving campaign. This involves asking for donations to Pendleside in lieu of gifts and stopping those torturing presents of more deodorants, novelty socks and shower gel sets from your much loved relatives. Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries, Retirements and any other celebration can all support Pendleside. Fundraising staff will help with invitations, posters, donation envelopes and collection buckets to assist with your celebration and make it as easy as possible. Last year alone Pendleside Hospice raised £21,000, including gift aid, in donations in lieu of gifts and has now become a large part of their fundraising. This year the annual running costs exceeds £2.4 million with 33% contribution from the NHS leaving over £1.6million each year to be raised though donations and fundraising events. If you would like to support Pendleside Hospice with your celebration or would like an information pack please contact Liz Daglish in fundraising on 01282 440136, Liz Daglish liz.daglish@pendleside.org.uk CELEBRATING 40 YEARS Alan & Miriam Shorrock celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary on Saturday 8th September and asked friends & family for donations to Pendleside Hospice in lieu of gifts. They gathered at Burnley Cricket Club to celebrate their 40 years of marriage and enjoyed an ABBA Duo tribute. Miriam is a dedicated supporter and volunteer at the hospice she said, “ I would like to thank everyone who attended and supported Pendleside Hospice in our celebration. It gives me great pleasure to hand over the money raised to a much needed local charity.” The money raised will help the hospice provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses. The cost of providing care increases year on year in response to demand for services. Thank you Alan & Marian from everyone at Pendleside
