LOCAL SOLICITORS HOPE FOR HOSPICE LOTTERY SUCCESS

Staff at a local firm of solicitors have recently become disillusioned with their syndicate’s lack of success at playing the National Lottery and have decided to chance their luck with the local Pendleside Hospice Lottery.

The syndicate at Baldwin Wyatt Solicitors at 24 Hammerton Street in Burnley have dedicated their pound each week to help the Reedley based hospice.  The amount that they may win on the Hospice Lottery is unlikely to mean that they can all retire on their winnings but they have the satisfaction of knowing that their help is improving the quality of life of people in the local community.

The Pendleside Hospice Lottery is a weekly membership lottery.  It costs just £1 for each number entered and there are 18 cash prizes to be won each week.  There is a first prize of £1,000, second prize of £250, third prize of £100 and 30 prizes of £5.  Around 6,000 play the Hospice Lottery each week meaning that the odds of winning a cash prize are much higher than the National Lottery but also generating an income of around £150,000 per year for the hospice.

Pendleside hospice provides care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses.  The cost of providing care increases year on year in response to demand for services.  Current annual running costs exceed £1.8 million, of which, more than £1.4 million has to be raised from fundraising initiatives such as the lottery as well as donations.
